Olympic wrap: Mexico trash France, Japan edge South Africa

Mexico began their Olympic campaign in style with a 4-1 win over France, while South Africa conceded a narrow 1-0 defeat to hosts Japan in their opening Group A encounters on Thursday afternoon.

Egypt 0-0 Spain 

Spain was held to a 0-0 draw by Egypt in their opening Group C encounter at the Sapporo Dome at the Tokyo Olympics. 

Mexico 4-1 France
